MY PARENTS ARE AWESOME.
I've wanted a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet for ages.
The fact is, when your Intuos2 tablet is, at 12 inches by 12 inches, actually larger than your laptop monitor, and can only be utilized while sitting crossedlegged with the tablet in your lap, you tire of using it really fast.
Whereas the petite 6 by 4 inch Bamboo Fun that I had to work with in the office was both an ease and a delight to use. I decided I wanted to get the larger 8.5x4.5 inch version for my home use.
That was several months ago. Dad said he would help me get one a discounted price directly from his retailer friend. Alright then. Waited a few months. Said friend didn't seem to be able to get a unit of the tablet I wanted. Started giving up hope on ever getting it.
Today, I came home and my Dad handed me a large box with "Bamboo Fun" printed on it. It went something like this.
Dad: Here.
Me: ...
Dad: It's your birthday present.
Me: ...
Dad: I wanted to give it to you on Saturday, your birthday, but your mom said we should give it to you today.
Me: ...AAAAAAHHHH!!
OMG HOW AWESOME IS THAT. So now I have a shiny black Bamboo Fun tablet all nicely set up beside my laptop. Everything that comes with it is black-- the mouse, the pen, the USB cable. Even the freakin' penholder is black. The packaging box was also black and smelt faintly of FACTORY FRESH NEW CAR.
I'm naming the tablet Deathscythe, just for the heck of it.
To break in the new tablet, I broke out an old art piece I'd abandoned months ago and finished the coloring!
I only fixed the shading; too lazy to edit the crappy lineart.
I'd intended to do all 4 Meister in this style--photorealistic features, shaded skin tones and flats for everything else. I wanted to turn them into postcards that I could convince the people at MooCards to print for me. But then I got lazy, and now I'm too busy for that. I have work and the fic archive to run and everything. Alas!
But YAY, NEW TABLET! ♥
